I love your site. Keep it up !
Queen Wil, I just stumbled across your blog this morning and I just felt compelled to say thank you for posting your journey. Congrats on your beautiful baby girl Amethyst. Your hard work has surely paid off.
I am a 38yo,AA first time mommy to be(28wks). I have been on bedrest 2.5 wks now because of an incompetent cervix that’s shortening.
we found out we were pregnant 9/09! WTHeck Slight bump in the road but not major, as we were both cautiously optimistic b/c we miscarried at 10wks in 2007. We didn’t want to get to carried away if this was not a viable pregnancy. We went on a planned our dream wedding and it went off without a hitch (12/31/09). The dress I had bought in Sept fit without any alterations needed and I had not gained any weight in my face/extremities.So needless to say I was still cute on my day girlfriend. We started breaking ground on our new house 12/09, it will be completed 3/10. We had planned to be in the house before our little boy was due(4/17/10) Up to this point all of my OB visits were great, BP-perfect(for my weight), no gest. diabetes, no swelling, avg weight gain for baby. Everything was fine until 3 wks ago when the US showed that my cervix had shortened to 1.6cm@ 26 wks. My OB put me on bedrest for 1wk to monitor things, and after that 1 wk she confined me to bedrest till my due date (4/17/10). I was not a happy camper as I am a dentist in a solo private practice. As a nurse you know the responsibility of having patients to care for, and for me to just drop out of site in one day was traumatic. My baby boy is numero uno on the list but to have to sit down when I am used to go,go going and doing for others has been challenging. It is a task having to be unable to do things I like to do independently. My husband and mother both try so hard, but they are like the Keystone cops fumbling everywhere. I like order and simplicity and they’re both very casual and laize faire. I’m sure I will get past the daily mood swings, and bluesies because I have found solice in surfing the net for baby furniture ideas.
My life has been on fast forward since 8/09 when my husband and I got engaged. Since we’re older we decided to get married sooner than later and New Year’s Eve was the date we set immediately. B/c of all the engagement celebration
So to sum all of my bedrest, crazy lady in confinement rambling……reading your blog has been a breath of fresh air to me. Thank you for caring and sharing of yourself. Sounds like you had a whirlwind of a time before and since little Amethyst has been born. May God continue to bless your family.

hi! i found your blog googling IC. i too have an incompetent cervix. currently pregnant for the 4th time. Ive lost all previous 3 with the 1st and 3rd pregnancies at 20 weeks (both boys) and the 2nd at 6 weeks. I was diagnosed w PCOS as well. Reading your blog has given me much hope especially how you give specific information on the procedures youve gone thru! im getting a cerclage within the next 2 weeks and i was very curious as to how the procedure is but reading your blog put my mind at ease! congratulations on your beautiful daughter!! what a joy it must be to be a mother!
Thanks for reading! I wish you tons of luck with your cerclage and the rest of your pregnancy. Motherhood is awesome…your turn is coming very soon!
Your blog is sooooooo good!!! I don’t know what I was googling…probably something PCOS or IC related..or getting pregnant again…. but came across your site and was hooked right away. I love the details and your writing style. Your story almost sounds like mine.
• I was diagnosed in 04 with PCOS (didn’t get a period for 6 months and figured I should get it checked out). They but me on BC. I hated taking the pill everyday so ended up forgetting. Boom…. Pregnant three months later….
• Had a healthly daughter 7/05…
• Tried to conceive naturally when she was about 3 years old. Nothing.
• Seeked fertility treatment from 08-09-Nothing.
• Switched fertility doctors in 2010. Got pregnant right away with IUI/injectibles in 8/10.
• Miscarried in 10/10- no baby heartbeat. Devastated.
• Tried IUI with injectibles in Feb 2011 again. Got pregnant with twins- boy and girl
• Lost baby A June 27 (21 weeks) – boy was a still birth (ruptured membranes, and prolapsed umbilical cord) and lost baby B July 4 (21 weeks 6 days)- she lived almost 4 hours. Drs has no reason. Maybe IC, maybe pre-mature labor…they don’t know. All tests came back negative. Not sure if it was a true IC cause my first pregnancy went so well.
• Now we are planning the funeral for my babies next week.
Your site actually gave me hope that when we are ready to move on and try again maybe we will be blessed with a healthy full term baby. I know one thing for sure—the cerclage is a sure thing! Thanks for letting me and others read about your journey to motherhood. I wish you all the best!
